The great war between the north and south has finally come to an end. A former solider known as Violet Evergarden has survived, healed and been rehabilitated. Only problem is that she cannot find her commanding officer who has told her what to do for as long as she can remember. A friend of this officer offers to take her in to his postal company where she becomes Doll who writes letters for people. All so she can figure out what the last words she heard her commanding officer say meant.
