NDK 2010 Review
Yay another year another NDK. Last year I swore I would not go if it was at the same hotel. However, I managed to reserve a room so I decided to change that tune. To be honest NDK has been stagnating in my opinion. Seriously, the past two years have been nothing but Green Screen rooms and voice actors. The voice actors I did not mind because most of them are pretty funny. However, the green screen rooms were really fucking annoying. Seriously they do not need to have more than 50% of the rooms dedicated to green screen.
Luckily this year everything changed. To be honest I was originally starting to lose faith in NDK. However, they changed my mind this time around. The very first thing I really liked was the staggered schedule. There were a good chunk of panels starting within 15 minute intervals of each other. This made it easier to go from one panel to another. Seriously, it is like the people who did the scheduling read my mind or something. Because most of the time I was able to line up all the panels I went too. So you guys get an A there.
The next thing I really liked about the panels was how they were all different lengths of time. Varying from 1 to 2 hours. This made it easier to kill the day. It is not that I did not like NDK. It is the fact that there were often times dry spells of panels. Most seemed uninteresting to me. So that made it easier to choose which panel to attend. I could easily choose the panel which was the longest. Often times those were long for a reason, not just because there was a lot of Q & A. Plus that made it easier to get to the panels I liked... I think I said that already.
The last thing I really liked about NDK this year, was there were more game panels. As cheesy as it sounds I really enjoy the trivia panels. They are fun in a weird kind of way. Even if I do not get to participate in them they are a great way to participate. Plus, I can almost always get a prize of some kind. Often times a game panel of some kind means FREE STUFF. This year I was a pretty big fan of free stuff since I was broke. So broke in fact that I could not get my Hentai for the year. It is sad not being able to get my game about seducing my little sister. Oh well I am pretty sure that vendor is at Wasabi.
All in all it was a good year for NDK. At least I think it was a good year. As always it was way to fucking crowded, however, NDK is fixing that with the cap. Even better I think people are actually starting to shower. I did not smell much, then again I was pretty dehydrated for the entire thing. The panels were great, they are the reason to go. NDK is back on top as my regularly scheduled convention.
