The Launch Day Love
I really love the launch day for anything that has some kind of online activation. So you know pretty much any software you can buy these days. It is just so wonderful that I have to fight for a place in line to just active my system or software. By wait in line I of course mean spam the login button until I am the lucky one to get a connection. The sad thing is that no one ever seems to learn for the past.
This whole online authentication thing is not a new thing for anyone. A couple of years ago when certain companies decided you needed an internet connection to play an offline game, this might have been understandable. After all, we are trying something brand new and well it is hard to calibrate the network or anticipate how many people are going to buy the game then race home to play it. It is not like something like this has never happened before right? You know... all those other times major game companies decided to do something like this?
You would think that Sony would have a little decency and you know upgrade their infrastructure. Then again, the probably forgot that no everyone is not going to use their PS3 or PS Vita or PSP. I wonder if Sony really thought that today was national do not long in to the PSN with anything but your PS4 day or something? I guess it must have been that or something, I mean why else would their network be down, incompetence? Makes me miss the old days of game.
I have to hate the XBox for starting this whole account bragging thing. One of the best parts of buying a console was the fact that you could go home plug it in and start enjoying it without and problems. I mean I guess if there was a problem it would be the fact that I could not afford a game, but that is different. However, when I bought my system there was no account to set up, no activation or firmware update, there was nothing like that. There was just me and the game, if I could afford one.
Remember when systems hard at least one good game coming out during the launch? I remember those days, good times they were. What ever happened to those times? I mean I could always find at least one game that I might want to play even if just to say I have a game. Whether it be a new mascot, an old one or a good company releasing a new game. There was always something to play. Now those times are gone, I guess the golden age of video games has ended.
Just like every new technological marvel it became big business. There was a time when the film industry was considered to be in its golden age, that time passed and all the old movie buffs sad. It is really sad to know that I got to witness the downfall of the video game era. The days when all the gamers in the world were treated like the mindless grubs who are addicted to social networks and want to have quick games they can play a million times really fast in-between their messaging of each other. I guess there might be a few quick games out there, but I highly doubt any of them are good. Such a sad time to live in right next to when the plug is pulled on the industry.
I guess that is progress for you, something becomes worth money and all of the sudden that industry is becomes trash as people try to protect that extra fifty cents they might make off of someone who is weak-willed. Then they of course forget that you need to be ready for all those times when people plug in their system. I mean yeah, why bother playing a system that I already have? I can wait all weekend long to well screw it I guess am just going to let it be a $400 paper weight. This is just annoying because I intentionally skipped watching anime so that I could sit down and break in the system with a brand new shiny application that makes this system worth pulling out of the box.. now I have to wait even longer to write those lists everyone relies on so very much to tell them what good animes are out and need to be watched. All two or three of them.
