So here comes the fun time of year when I have to figure out what you should watch for the year. Sadly, between work and the old republic I have not really watched all that much. Then again, the bitchiness of some sites really turns me off the animes. So I am going to get there. However, I have enough anime watched to pick a couple animes that should be watched, in no particular order. I guess the first would be Shingeki no Kyojin.

My main reason for liking this is that it is not an anime that really relies on comedy. A lot of anime these days, no matter how dark and dramatic, always try and throw in many jokes and stuff to lighten the mood. Sadly this is something that really sucks about anime. Not Shingeki no Kyojin, nope this anime is pretty much hardcore drama with the occasional joke thrown in. Lots and lots of action and story going through this anime. Plus plenty of odd twists and turns and other choices that seem questionable. Then again, maybe I am a sucker for these dark nihilistic animes where there are lots and lots of sadness and death. The best part is that they do not cross the line into Goro either, that is a plus for me. I hate it when an anime sells itself by showing lots of blood and other human gore.

Now lets jump to the lighter animes, which dominate the season, Hataraku Maou-sama!. I guess what appeals to me about this anime is the novel concept of what can happen to someone who has been banished from his realm. I am just really curious to see how this one will end. Especially since the so-called hero is doing more evil than the devil. Plus it is just weird and funny how things are working out in this anime. At times there seems to be a bit of a stretch for everything, but overall it is funny to watch. There are plenty of WTF moments which make you want to come back for more. Again, though I want to see where this story is leading.

Speaking of obnoxious there is also Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko. If you want an anime that is has WTF moments, I have yet to come across an episode where there was not a WTF moment. You know the moments, where you will pause the show just to let what was said, no matter how simple and easy to understand, process. It is one of those times when you have to sit down and wonder why the hell would anyone say that on any medium? I mean really, is this anime just the ultimate anime about being honest with yourself? You have to dive down into the deepest darkest parts of yourself that have all these weird unusal... I guess thoughts and bring them out? Plus I am also curious about there the anime is going because of the fact that one of the main plot points has already been solved.

I guess I will end the what you should watch list with Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince, one of the few I have been too lazy to document. Anyway, this one was done by the guy who did all those SEED animes. You know, the ones that most people hate. Really I watch this anime for one reason. The main character's who purpose in life is to become the red ranger. Really that is what he wants to be he wants to be the red ranger. Ironic because he has the red suit as well right? That is the great thing about this one anime. It is like watching the power rangers only when they transform they fight in mechs and only mechs. It is also interesting seeing a few of the characters. I guess the main cast is interesting, you have your hentai prince and princess, well not the princess she is about romance... wink. Then you have the ice prince and princess. So that is kind of interesting to see as well. Overall, it is a good one to watch. Plus you have the whole Romeo and Juliet motif going on as well.

So yeah there is all the anime I think is watching based on what I have watched so far. Looking at my archive... christ I am so far behind. However, these animes are the good ones that I have watched. Now I just need to stop being lazy. Yes there are lots of other animes out there that have lots of buzz around them, but I just cannot bring myself to watch them with some of the buzz. Well that or I would rather grind on The Old Republic, take your pick. So yeah if you are having a hard time picking anime, take my judgements on anime. Granted I am known to be rather easy to please these days. So hate me at your own risk
