The Update Conundrum
So today I was having a massive case of coding fever after I managed to solve, what I believe, is a problem at work. Anyway during this process I can around to seeing that I need to update my website... so I need to take the time to figure this website crap out. I of course like to start off with the design... as most people do. You know see what I am going to make first and all that stuff. However, I am not a graphic designer or anything. Plus you know I need to take these opportunities to learn tools that are being used. You know like jquery and stuff. So I decided to start fresh with nothing but my hands. Well things were going swimmingly. That is until I started making mistakes.
I think my first mistake was when I relied on Jquery theme roller to properly show the font size of something. That was fun, so all my test was really big for those of you whole like broad strokes.. mind you that I am not going to write any less... it would just take up a lot more space. That might be a good thing though. So this is about the time when jquery stopped working for me. I went in and used their magical theme roller tool to try and fix this. Well.. for some reason it stopped downloading my custom theme.. that was really upsetting to me because I can make jquery look really cool.. so now I am left with a new conundrum.
I have been meaning to get better at CSS and stuff like that. I mean I am a web guy.. I guess I kind of need these skills. However, at the same time I am really lazy. I mean my designer at my last job was really obsessive.. I find that I can be similar in that case too.. I mean I have noticed that I spend too much time messing with the colors... that is kind of a bad thing. After all, if I am messing with my colors all the time.. what am I doing with the rest of the page. Plus... I kind of suck at the whole.. you know doing things portion of this. After all.. I seem to fail and can never find the exactly right query. Oh well, at least I am getting there.. I think.
Regardless I need to set up a guest operating system on my machine first. I decided that instead of having a dedicated laptop. I will just suffer with my VMs. I personally do not like VMware... I do not really like virtualization.. however, I am willing to give this a try. That will make my code much more portable.. at least I think it will.. I cannot tell you how much I lost when the mackbook up and decided it was time to start dying. Oh well, i guess that is just how things work out when you are a lazy programmer like me. I am going to get more working this time too. That will be my next challenge.
Anyway here is another me pretending I am actually doing work on the site. I really want to make lots of upgrades... I have lots of ideas on how making the site would be easier on me.. but at the same time.. that requires thought and effort and all that jazz.. and well.. I am not sure I have it in me some days. That is the curse of being lazy. Yeah I can waste a lot of time doing stuff... but at the end of the day.. is my current method broken or something? Uhh well I am going to be left to ponder the age old question. Video games, anime, or work.. I think all of us know how that works out for me and in fact the rest of the world. I hope I can find the inspiration to write something funnier tomorrow.
